"Listen!" This is St. Benedict's opening word in his "Little Rule for Beginners." He offered a way of listening in a safe, faith-filled, community environment where believers learned to practice the disciplines of prayer, healthy relationships and good works. Benedict's rule was countercultural in an era of increasing secular and religious pressures. The word for rule, regula, meant "something to hang on to in the dark." Christians of all denominations today are looking to the ancient discipline of a Rule of Life to help guide and strengthen their sense of living in Christ and participating in a wider community.
This workshop on Dec 7 from 9am - 12 pm at Access will include information about the history and purpose of a Rule of Life, and provide participants with the opportunity to reflect on and begin to draft a Personal Rule of Life.
