On Saturday, September 16, at 1:00 PM we're going to be hosting a special workshop on how to care for your friends and neighbors who have been impacted by Harvey. For many people, Harvey has been a traumatic experience, and we know many of us are eager to help in ways that are actually helpful.
WHAT: Get trained in Spiritual First Aid for Disaster (SFA) an innovative evidence-informed disaster spiritual and emotional care intervention that equips lay and professional helpers to provide social support and address common spiritual and emotional struggles that follow a disaster. The training will be conducted by Dr. Jamie Aten, Founder and Executive Director of the Humanitarian Disaster Institute at Wheaton College. He developed a mental health training process called Spiritual First Aid, an adaption of Psychological First Aid - which is the gold standard for mental health treatment for natural disasters).
WHO: This workshop is for anyone interested in knowing how to better care for others in the current context of the Houston floods or even for those interested in knowing how to better care for themselves during this time.
This workshop at the Access warehouse is open to friends and neighbors. There is no cost but please SIGN UP below.
